What we collect
Chinese365 runs as a stateless reader of public language data. When you visit the site, browse characters, or read a grammar entry, we don't log anything tied to you personally.
If you create an account, we store your email, a hashed password (bcrypt), and the mastery state for each character / word / grammar point you study. That data lives in our database and is what powers your streak, “review today” list, and per-character mastery bars.
If you call our API with an API key, we count requests against your tier quota and log the endpoint. We do not log the text body you submit.
Cookies cookies & local storage
We use one first-party cookie for session authentication (the c365_session cookie). We do not use third-party tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixel, or any advertising tracker.
We may store small preferences in your browser's localStorage (theme, last-visited tool) so the site remembers them on your next visit. You can clear it anytime from your browser settings.
LLM tools & your text
Five of our tools — Grammar Checker, Reading Level, Sentence Analyzer, Sentence Generator, and Text Simplify — send the text you submit to a large language model provider configured in our environment. We use the response to render the result, and we do not store it on our servers. We do not use it to train any model.
If you want a private alternative, the tools also expose their underlying endpoints at /api-docs — you can self-host the stack, or run the prompts yourself with the same templates.
Logs & retention
Our web server keeps access logs for 14 days (standard nginx rotation). Logs are used only for incident response and capacity planning, never for user profiling. After 14 days they are deleted.
Your rights
You can request export or deletion of your account data at any time by emailing jingshuicc@gmail.com. We process requests within 14 days.
Children
Chinese365 is designed for adult language learners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If we change anything material in, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, surface a notice on the site for at least 30 days.
